Dr Anthony Duncan
Anthony is a Psychiatrist who received his medical training from the University of Auckland. He completed his psychiatric training in Dunedin and his initial specialisation was in the Psychiatry of Old Age. He is a foundation member of the Faculty of Psychiatry of Old Age within the Royal Australian & New Zealand College of Psychiatrists. He has worked in a number of areas in psychiatry including General Psychiatry, the Psychiatry of Old Age, and Forensic Psychiatry. He was Deputy Director, and Senior Adviser in Mental Health at the Ministry of Health between 1999 and 2003, before returning to clinical practice.
He is currently the National Adviser in the Intellectual Disability (Compulsory Care & Rehabilitation) Act 2003. His main clinical interests are in trying to ensure the effective collaboration of mental health and intellectual disability services to best meet the needs of intellectually disabled offenders throughout the country.
