WHAT AN OPPORTUNITY

If you are a Mental Health Support Worker (MHSW) or in an administrative role, and are interested in training to become a registered nurse then the Mental Health Service can assist make your dream come true while you work.

The MHD  subsidizes successful applicants to undertake the Bachelor of Nursing programme at Whitireia Polytech. The Bachelor of Nursing programme is for 3 years with the expectation that you will complete the Mental Health new Graduate program the following year. .

Criteria for selection:
• Must be a current employee of at least 2 years service Capital & Coast DHB and satisfactory to above average performance record
• Must be working in the MHSW or administrative or similar role
• Must be committed to completing the programme
• Must have the educational background to cope with the academic standards of the programme

You can continue to earn 40 hours basic pay per week and this is how it works. You work only 24 hours per week via the casual pool, and your employer will fund the other 16 hours of your ordinary pay per week to allow you sufficient paid time to study. Your employer will also make a contribution towards prescribed textbooks.
